Every child can receive dental services regardless of dental insurance or ability to pay. Salud will bill Medicaid, CHP+ or Delta Dental if the child has that coverage. Families will NOT be charged for any service; this includes waiving copays, deductibles and co-insurances.
Dental Services in Schools provide 4 levels of services. Your child’s school will provide one of the levels of service described below (consent is obtained for each service):
Level 1: dental education, dental screening, fluoride varnish application
Level 2: dental education, dental screening, fluoride varnish application, sealant application
Level 3: dental education, dental screening, fluoride varnish application, sealant application, cleanings
Level 4: “The Virtual Dental Home Model” which includes all services listed above PLUS x-rays, oral photos, silver diamine fluoride application, virtual exam and treatment plan with dentist, placement of interim therapeutic restorations (ITR). This is only available in Fort Morgan schools.
Salud staff will visit up to two times per year, once in the Fall and again in the Spring. The frequency of visits will depend on what type of dental services are offered at the participating location.
Children miss less class time (average appointment is 10-20 minutes!) and receive quality dental care in the comfort of their school.
Parents know their child is receiving quality dental care at school without having to take time off work.
Schools have healthier children! Dental Services in Schools reduce mouth-related pain which means more time in the classroom!
