Dental care is an important part of your child’s health and can often be expensive.

Dental Services in Schools make it easy for your child to receive the care they need in the comfort of their school, and without the hassle of taking time off work, dealing with transportation or making an appointment.

Dental Services in Schools provide dental sealants and fluoride varnish application, both prevent tooth decay.

Cost

Every child can receive dental services regardless of dental insurance or ability to pay. Salud will bill Medicaid, CHP+ or Delta Dental if the child has that coverage. Families will NOT be charged for any service; this includes waiving copays, deductibles and co-insurances.

Services Offered

Dental Services in Schools provide 4 levels of services. Your child’s school will provide one of the levels of service described below (consent is obtained for each service):

   

Level 1: dental education, dental screening, fluoride varnish application

Level 2: dental education, dental screening, fluoride varnish application, sealant application

Level 3: dental education, dental screening, fluoride varnish application, sealant application, cleanings

Level 4: “The Virtual Dental Home Model” which includes all services listed above PLUS x-rays, oral photos, silver diamine fluoride application, virtual exam and treatment plan with dentist, placement of interim therapeutic restorations (ITR). This is only available in Fort Morgan schools. ­­­­­

Salud staff will visit up to two times per year, once in the Fall and again in the Spring. The frequency of visits will depend on what type of dental services are offered at the participating location.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my child's school is not listed?

Dental services are provided at over 95 schools, Head Start, and afterschool programs across Colorado. Salud prioritizes providing care to underserved, low-income, and migrant populations within our services area. If your child's school or program is not listed on our online enrollment form, we are not currently providing services at your location. A regular dental examination can be scheduled by calling 303 MYSALUD (697-2583) or by visiting the clinic nearest you.

What if my child needs additional dental care?

If your child needs additional care, they can receive services from their dentist. If they do not have a dentist, Salud provides quality, affordable dental care at clinics in 11 different counties. How often do I have to fill out an enrollment form?

Salud requires a new enrollment form every school year in order for a child to participate.

I have multiple children receiving dental care. Do I have to fill out separate forms for each of them?

Yes, at this time our process requires one enrollment form per child.
